What happened to the Registrar- Ms. Marilyn Square?

It seems that Ms. Marilyn Square, TSU's decades-long Registrar and the second-most powerful TSU administrator has abruptly retired in August without any recognition or well-wishing from TSU for all her years at TSU. Not even a single email announcing her retirement!

Ms. Square was extremely well-known and recognized for all her hard work on behalf of our students.  Routinely Ms. Square would spend weekends and nights assisting students and faculty to make sure our students were able to graduate on time.

The Registrar is actually more powerful than the Provost and is the only administrator (besides the President) who can over-rule the Provost.  Rumors are that the Provost repeatedly did not agree with the Registrar on certain academic issues and is possibly the reason why Ms. Square has left the university without any fanfare or thanks for her service.

We find it very disappointing that a personal disagreement between 2 administrators has potentially harmed our university as the new Registrar comes from a very small college of just about 500 students (Paul Quinn) and may have serious difficulties adjusting to a much larger demand and collective needs from our bigger student population.  Interestingly, her welcome email to the university did not mention her prior work, only her degrees and membership in a sorority.  Interesting!  ;-)- Did TSU hire yet another employee without the proper work qualifications?

It seems that the new Registrar- Ms. LeWanna Hobbs- hired just this past week from outside TSU.  We hope The Force is as strong with her as it was with Ms. Square.  We wish Ms. Square well in her retirement.

I've know Marilyn Square for many years, a great and wonderful individual. I've completed my B.A.,and my graduate degrees under her watch as register. To hear such a harding thing is truly appalling. All that hard work, and to be treated with such indignity. TSU shame on you. I've known her to be a person of integrity and commitment. Remember the same people you meet going up, might be the same you meet going down. Look Who's running the store now. LORD HELP US.
