Predictions for TSU's future

So now we know the reasons why King Lane has been removed by the BOR.  In a 4 page termination letter posted on TSU's website the BOR lists a series of very disturbing and damaging items which likely has already harmed our university's reputation and brand image.

We turn now to the future- what will the rest of 2020 look like for our university?  We anticipate several predictions in the coming months:

1) King Lane will either go away quietly with a severance package or he will fight it out in civil court which could take years and years and years.....rumors are that King Lane and his Queen own 2 houses and have 2 mortgages which doesn't seem like a very stable financial situation especially when you just got terminated.  We suggest King Lane take the money and run.

2) The 30 day appeal process for King Lane will not be successful for him.   No one picks a fight with the people they have to work with, i.e. the BOR and comes back as their leader.  That just doesn't happen.

3) The social media and media campaign King Lane and his minions are currently undergoing will not go anywhere.  The campaign of false information through biased journalism, Twitter trolls, weaponizing students and alumni as well as press conferences will be very unsuccessful and in fact will backfire.  The nonsensical petition being driven by King Lane to send over to the Governor is possibly the silliest idea and will not work.  The BOR made a very difficult and excessively time-consuming decision- why on earth would the Governor overturn that?

4) The Board of Regents CANNOT be impeached.  This is the stupidest and most desperate thing King Lane and his royal court of jesters have ever tried to promote.  BOR is appointed by the Governor.  The Governor nor anyone else cannot impeach the BOR. BOR members can be removed by the Governor but do you really think that will happen?  When was the last time a public official caved to public pressure?  It will not happen. Besides, if the Governor had an opinion about the goings-on at TSU- why hasn't his office put out a press release?  It's been over a month since King Lane was placed on leave.  The silence is deafening.

5) SACS accreditation will NOT be affected in a negative manner.  The BOR has been extremely savvy and careful on how they have dealt with the numerous problems listed in the termination letter.  The BOR has some really smart people working for TSU's benefit (for a change).  By going public and making things transparent, honest and accountable as well as a very serious dose of ethics, the BOR has actually prevented SACS from punitive options.  The moment the BOR suspected or knew about problems at TSU, they began an investigation lasting several months and at one point even hired 3 different law firms, showing that their actions were in sync with their and TSU's morals.  Once someone admits to a mistake, you cannot harm them.  We commend the BOR for being smart, careful and deliberate in their manner of cleaning house and coming clean.

6) The Provost and likely the General Counsel, etc will not last in their positions much longer, it is likely they will leave by end of semester or end of summer latest.  Kenneth needs new and trustworthy people around him who don't have the acrid and foul stench of King Lane's decayed specter hovering around them.  We predict other high-ranking administrators will also face the guillotine and be replaced with individuals who actually care about TSU's values and ethics more in line with the BOR.

7) TSU will not merge with Texas State, UH, UT or A&M or any other university system.  Every few years, people hit the same old panic button, you hear the same tired drumbeat of fear-mongering from students, alumni, staff, faculty and the general public.  Conspiracy theories raise their heads again and we are again hearing rumors of a merger, most recently with Texas State University only because Texas State does not have a law school and are eying our law school.  It won't happen.  The BOR did the right thing and addressed the problems head on, why would we be forced to merge now?  Forced merger happens when the insiders don't do their job; the BOR has done their job admirably and commendably.

8)  The next President of TSU will have a very, very difficult journey ahead of him or her, most notably on how to repair the shattered hopes and dreams of a university divided and alumni, students, faculty and staff angry and feeling betrayed by the lies of the Lane regime.  But we know from history that when a catastrophic event occurs, we always unite and become stronger together.  Are we that quick to forget the Slade scandal in 2006?  Seems eerily familiar.

We wish the next candidate the best of luck because we know that ONE moral and ethical individual who can unite us together is out there.   We hope they will apply for the job when it becomes available and the BOR will approve.  WE REALLY NEED A GOOD AND HONEST LEADER!
