CONFIRMED- Provost trying to remove Faculty Senate Chair Wu and Vice Chair Jackson

Emails from Provost Harris confirm that he is trying to remove Chair Wu and Vice Chair Jackson from their positions using a dubious and impotent method of claiming that since they have a reduced workload, it makes them ineligible to serve as Chair and Vice Chair.  Both Wu and Jackson have a reduced workload due to their duties in the Faculty Senate not due to any other reason we can assess.  The Provost seems to be relying on the law school fall modification schedule which ends on Nov 4 for his assessment they are ineligible for their elected positions in the Faculty Senate.  Moreover, by this logic since all of the schools are on a modified work schedule, doesn't this make the entire Faculty Senate ineligible for work?

The Provost seems to be twisting the Faculty Manual definition of resigning as well as trying to involve the General Counsel to back up his desire to remove these 2 professors.  He claims that  his opinion is "aligned with General Counsel's opinion" which is a vague way of saying that the General Counsel has the same opinion as the Provost.  Maybe that's the truth, maybe not.  But unfortunately for the Provost and General Counsel, opinions are not facts.  Opinions are opinions.

It was in King Lane's deeply entrenched interests to keep faculty divided and at each other's throats because this allowed them to continue to squander money on frivolous items like $100K basketball tickets and a $2 million mansion which now sits empty and costs TSU a rumored $15,000 a month to maintain.  Let that sink in- we are paying for an empty mansion while our students desperately need financial aid.   Is the Provost carrying on King Lane's despotism?

Now it appears that Interim President Huewitt has turned a blind eye and deaf ear to faculty pleas for correcting this rapacious greed and abuse, even though he appears to be fully aware of this abuse of  power by the Provost.  Will President Huewitt step forward and do the right thing?

We have posted in the past of the abuses of power by King Lane prior to him being swiftly removed from our kingdom, but now it appears in the vacuum left behind since February, Provost Harris has greedily filled it with his own venal desire to control, abuse and punish faculty he personally disagrees with.  Rumors is that he was instrumental in leading the charge to terminate a tenured professor in SOPA whom he disagreed with-

Let's not forget about the clownishness over the Faculty and Staff Excellence Awards- The Provost has NEVER sent any university-wide email clearing up the reason as to why they have been cancelled/postponed-

President Huewitt- it's time for a new Provost.  We need someone with better moral and ethical character. We need someone who will not bully and intimidate faculty when they disagree with him, especially when they speak out.  We set the role model for future Tigers and Tigerettes.  Our students and alumni are always watching, listening and learning and we must set the right example.
