Shakedown at SOPA Fundraiser?

In our last post of the SOPA Fundraiser on August 6, 2021 we wrote:

Dr. Ewoh went around the fundraising room appearing to demand and shake out money by directly asking the attendees how much they will donate.  It appears that the SOPA fundraiser had about $14,000 in pledges.  Some highlights:

Dean George Kieh- pledged $2000

Dr. Andrew Ewoh- pledged $1000

Dr. Rina Majundar- pledged $500 and also said she would establish a book scholarship in memory of late father.

Ms. Richelle Jones- pledged $1800

Mr. Chad Sebastien- pledged $2000

Ms. Sheila Taylor- pledged $1000

Dr. Glenn Johnson- Need to think about it- so that means pledge or no pledge(?)

Dr. Ashraf Mozayani- pledged $1000

Ms. Terry Phillips pledged $500

An adjunct professor pledged $200 (a bribery-ish attempt to keep his adjunct position?)

Ms. Terry Phillips pledge $500

Dr. Baker- pledged $1000. Perhaps he was motivated by being reappointed to serve 2 extra years as AJ Chair beyond the Faculty Manual by Dean Kieh?

Dr. Howard Henderson- pledged $5000- while serving in an TSU administrative position (CJR Director) he is allowed to teach overloads and summer courses thus allowing him to net an additional $20,000 a year. Perhaps, his $5000 pledge was a bribery-ish effort to keep his overloads/summer, not including that sweet and salty Koch "grant" money coming into TSU-

However, neither Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, nor Commissioner Rodney Ellis came to the virtual fundraiser nor did they send any representatives.  We can only speculate as to why they did not show up or even send representation.

Pledges at fundraisers are a lot like New Year Resolutions- very easy to make but very hard to enforce.

Will the Dean's office actually provide a list of confirmed donations in the future?  Maybe in 2026?

So every major donor at this "event" was a TSU School of Public Affairs - administrator, faculty or staff?
Not one external donor made a large pledge?

There were no external donors. Only internal
